And just like that, the San Diego Padres' 2025 season has come to an end. Falling, 3-1 to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Thursday night, the Friars lost a best-of-3 series to the NL Central champions. It's disappointing. It's definitely not as far as most fans thought they would go, but this is unfortunately the reality.
The Padres scored five total runs in the three games, leaving much to be desired about their postseason performance. One bright spot, if Padres fans can stomach a moment of positivity, is that Jackson Merrill showed up in this series.
