Homers dog Dinelson Lamet in final 2019 start

Dinelson Lamet’s final start was a microcosm of his 2019 campaign.

He was hit hard at times. He was unhittable at others, continuing to tease at what the Padres hope the 27-year-old right-hander is when he walks through the clubhouse doors next spring with his Tommy John surgery firmly in the rearview mirror:

Healthy and on the rise.

A day after clinching home-field advantage, the World Series-or-bust Dodgers mashed three of their four homers off Lamet in a 6-4 win that sent the Padres to their 11th loss in their last 13 games.

Lamet also struck out 10 batters in five innings, marking the fourth time in 14 post-surgery starts in which he reached double-digit punchouts.
