Gyorko continues to produce with the bat as a shortstop

But Wednesday night at Petco Pack there was a double dose of birthday celebrations.

Matt Kemp, who turned 31 on Wednesday, doubled with one out in the ninth with the Padres and Giants tied at 4-4. Three hitters later, Jedd Gyorko celebrated his 27th birthday with a walk-off single to left-center to give the Padres a 5-4 win.

Gyorko became the first Major League player to celebrate his birthday with a walk-off hit since Boston's Jacoby Ellsbury beat the Yankees on Sept. 11, 2012. The last Padre to record a walk-off hit on his birthday was Sean Burroughs on Sept.
