Going long isn't good enough for Padres

CHICAGO -- Once again, the San Diego Padres hit a lot of home runs.

And once again, they generated most of their offense through the long ball.

It wasn't enough. Manuel Margot, Allen Cordoba and Wil Myers each hit solo shots as the Padres struck out 17 times to tie their season high in a 5-4 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Saturday night.

The Padres (14-24) have hit 50 home runs this season to rank fifth in the Majors. More than half of their 137 runs scored have been through home runs (72).
