Gary Sheffield is on the move.
The one-time Padre appeared on 30.5 percent of Hall of Fame ballots on Tuesday, more than double the vote he received a year ago.
Only Derek Jeter (99.7 percent) and Larry Walker (76.6) will be inducted into the 2020 class, with Walker, in his final year of eligibility, jumping from 54.6 percent last year to just over the requisite 75 percent needed this year.
Three years ago, Walker appeared on just 21.9 percent of Baseball Writers Association of America ballots.
That’s good news for Sheffield, who has four years of eligibility after debuting with an 11.
