Three San Diego teams and two from Tijuana are among the dozen squads invited to participate in the All-Star Youth Classic, Major League Baseball will announce on Friday.
Held in conjunction with the 87th All-Star Game in San Diego, the youth classic is a friendly, round-robin tournament featuring more than 140 baseball and softball players, ages 11-12, from various leagues and organizations from across the country. Formerly known as the “Jr. RBI Classic,” the tournament will take place during All-Star Week – July 8-11 – at the Robb Field Complex at Ocean Beach.
“We are delighted to welcome these young men and women to San Diego as important participants of our All-Star Week festivities,” said Tony Reagins, MLB’s senior vice president of youth programs.
