Dodgers beat free-swinging Padres

LOS ANGELES —

Playing the Dodgers is difficult enough, especially for the Padres, without them getting two runs on three base hits that would have been blown backward in a stiff wind.

That is what the Dodgers did Wednesday night against Matt Strahm, taking a lead in the second inning that they carried to a 2-0 victory.

Corey Seager led off the second by reaching down and out of the strike zone to poke a slider from Strahm slowly up the third base line that he beat out. Chris Taylor’s sacrifice bunt moved Seager to second, and he went to third when Alex Verdugo also reached out to send a slider rolling slowly toward second that he beat out.
