Andy Green won’t be staying home in 2020.
The Cubs are bringing the former Padres manager aboard next year as bench coach for first-year skipper David Ross, the Union-Tribune confirmed.
Green, 42, was fired before the final week of the regular season with about $2 million owed to him through the 2021 season.
Before joining the Padres four years ago, Greeny served as the Diamondbacks’ bench coach.
Green was 274-366 over four seasons in San Diego, topping out at 71 wins in 2017.
In Chicago, Green will be the right-hand man for Ross, a 42-year-old former catcher embarking on his first on-field job since retiring after the 2016 season.
