If you were hoping that the Padres might go into the All-Star break with a few wins, I have bad news for you. Luis Perdomo got rocked for five runs in even fewer innings, which would have ben the end of the night most days. But the Padres offense actually put up six runs... which, sadly, is the same number of runs Phil Maton and Phil Hughes gave up in the late innings.
The Friars’ night started out pretty well. After Carlos Asuaje hit a one-out single in the bottom of the first, Eric Hosmer went deep to put the Pads up 2-0.
