Baseball this year will lose one of its great broadcasters, dealing an especially firm blow to the Cincinnati Reds and their fans.
Marty Brennaman will call his final Reds game later this season after nearly five decades as the team’s play-by-play voice on radio.
Brennaman, honored 19 years ago by baseball’s Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, said Thursday he still loves the job and is on top of his game.
He seeks a new lifestyle, while he has his health.
“Forty-six years is long enough,” the 76-year-old said before the Reds-Padres series opener at Petco Park.
