A.J. Preller, the architect, says it is a “crucial” hire.
Getting it done will consume much of his time, as well that of his bosses, over the next week or five.
Bruce Bochy, Joe Maddon, Ron Washington or someone else will be given a significant role in implementing the next level of a process Preller began formulating in earnest about four years ago.
And then the real work will commence.
