It was an injury-riddled 2025 season for Padres ace Michael King, as he spent two separate stints on the injured list. But fast forward to now, and Game 3 of the Wild Card could very well have been his last game in brown and yellow.
King, 30, has a mutual option in his contract for 2026, but it seems more likely that both parties will decline it, as the Padres would save money while King would earn more money in a new contract. If that were to happen, he would undoubtedly received a $22 million qualifying offer.
