Managers: Walter Alston, Dodgers; Al Lopez, White Sox.

Highlight: The Pirates’ Bob Skinner, the pride of La Jolla High, got the scoring started in the first inning for the NL with an RBI single after Willie Mays opened the game with a triple. Ernie Banks followed with a two-run homer as the NL took a 3-0 lead. The NL had a 5-0 lead by the third inning.
