Erin Popovich, The Wife Of San Antonio Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich, Has Died

The San Antonio Spurs have announced that Erin Popovich, the wife of head coach Gregg Popovich, has died. 

"With deep regret the San Antonio Spurs announce that Erin Popovich, wife of Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich, passed away earlier today," a statement from the Spurs read. "Erin and Gregg were married for four decades and were blessed with two children and two grandchildren."

Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Erin had been ill for an extended period. The cause of death has not yet been reported. 

"We mourn the loss of Erin,” Spurs GM R.C. Buford said. “She was a strong, wonderful, kind, intelligent woman who provided love, support and humor to all of us.”

The Spurs are set to play the Golden State Warriors tomorrow in Game 3 of their NBA Playoff series. Popovich has not yet said if he'll coach in the game or at all in the rest of the series.
