Trey Lyles contract becomes fully guaranteed after the Spurs’ team-option deadline passes

As counterintuitive as it may sound, radio silence doesn’t necessarily mean there’s no news. And that’s precisely the case when it comes to Trey Lyles’ second-year team option with the Spurs.

The deadline for PATFO to come to a decision expired as the clock struck midnight on the first day of free agency negotiations, which signals Lyles should be back in Silver and Black next season.

After waiving Chimezie Metu and signing Drew Eubanks and Jakob Poeltl to three-year deals, San Antonio now rosters 13 players with guaranteed contracts heading into the 2020-2021 season.
