OKLAHOMA CITY – As Spurs coach Gregg Popovich seeks to solidify his rotation with the playoffs fast approaching, it would seem Jonathon Simmons is the odd man out.
The second-year swingman’s minutes have dwindled of late. Only 10 seconds of the 11 minutes he logged in the 103-74 rout of Cleveland on Monday came before the fourth quarter, when the outcome had already been decided. In the 110-98 loss to Golden State on Wednesday, the Houston native was limited to garbage time, playing the final 52 seconds.
Popovich was asked after the Spurs’ shootaround Friday morning if there was something Simmons needed to do to increase his playing time.
