SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Shortly after the Spurs made the announcement, the speculation began.
The announcement: They will retire Tim Duncan’s No. 21 jersey on Dec. 18 after a game with New Orleans at the AT&T Center.
The speculation: Will Duncan actually show up?
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich ended that talk at the team’s shootaround Wednesday morning.
“He’s not big on accolades or people honoring him, but he will be there because the fans were great to him and he wants to respect that,” Popovich said. “But he will by shy about it, a little bit embarrassed by it.
