NEW YORK — Kawhi Leonard is your new Western Conference Player of the Week. The NBA announced the award this afternoon.
The Spurs’ All-Star small forward led the conference in scoring for the week, averaging 36.6 points in three games. He is in the midst of a six-game stretch of 30-point games, which he will put on the line tonight in Brooklyn.
Included in that streak — which matches the Spurs’ longest since Mike Mitchell also accomplished it in 1986 — is Leonard’s career high. He pumped in 41 points to help the Spurs beat Cleveland 118-115 in overtime on Thursday.
