SAN ANTONIO – Tim Duncan is their captain and Manu Ginobili isn’t far behind from a leadership perspective.
But the Spurs gained another layer of leadership depth when they signed David West in the summer.
“He’s a grown up,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said of the 13th-year pro from Xavier. “He’s a professional who really takes pride in what he does every day, (every) practice.”
Popovich said it was clear from Day One that West, despite all of his experience, was still teachable.
“He came in and tried to learn the system quickly and asked a lot of questions,” Popovich said.
