The Spurs are generally known as one of the most low-drama organizations in sports. One Spurs assistant, however, has been forced to recall how the rest of the basketball world lives.
Ettore Messina, in his summer role as coach of the Italian national team, blasted star Danilo Gallinari after the latter broke his hand while punching a Dutch player in an international not-so-friendly match. The knuckleheaded injury leaves Gallinari out for the upcoming FIBA Eurobasket tournament, much to the chagrin of the Italians and their coach.
“He did something I can’t explain, unacceptable,” Messina told the Italian publication Repubblica, as translated by Sportnando.
