Review shows refs right to take steal away from Spurs

SAN ANTONIO – The NBA’s review of the officiating in the last two minutes of the Spurs’ 105-101 loss to Dallas on Sunday revealed the referees got it right when they awarded a timeout to the Mavericks with 25 seconds left.

Dallas led 101-98 when the Spurs’ Danny Green poked the ball away from the Mavericks’ Seth Curry into the hands of teammate Kawhi Leonard. But the officials wiped out the theft, saying Dallas coach Rick Carlisle called for a timeout before the play.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and several players argued the call.

“We are players,” Spurs guard Manu Ginobili said afterward.
