In the recorded history of the NBA, there have been only five quadruple-doubles. The first was Nate Thurmond on October 18, 1974. The second, over a decade later, was Alvin Robinson in 1986.
Hakeem Olajuwon accrued two quadruple-doubles in the month of March in 1990, making him the only player to earn two.
And the final acknowledged quadruple-double belongs to the Spurs Admiral, David Robinson, who logged 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 blocks on this day in 1994 against the Detroit Pistons.
Hard to believe it’s been twenty-six years since a player has made such an impact of this nature, but with the direction the NBA has taken with players specializing in specific aspects of the game, the idea of the well-rounded player has taken a backseat to volume three-point shooting or a 3-and-D wing.
