Whenever Gregg Popovich decides to start Dejounte Murray, he keeps the message consistent. Popovich doesn’t attempt to overload his rookie point guard, instead he insists that Murray enjoy his playing time.
“He just told me to have fun,” said Murray. “It’s just basketball. Just stay ready to play.”
Filling in for Tony Parker, who sat out with a sore foot, Murray scored a season-high 24 points, helping the Spurs beat the Denver Nuggets 118-104, Thursday night at AT&T Center.
Kawhi Leonard finished with a team-high 34 points, while Manu Ginobili added 14 points, four rebounds and five assist off the bench.
