Paul returns for Clippers after 14-game absence

Chris Paul will make his return to the court against the San Antonio Spurs Friday, LA Clippers coach Doc Rivers said.

The veteran point guard has been out since tearing a ligament in his thumb Jan. 16. Paul was medically cleared to play earlier this week.

A nine-time All-Star, Paul tore a ligament in his left thumb on Jan. 16 against the Oklahoma City Thunder and had surgery two days later. He was initially expected to miss six to eight weeks while rehabilitating the thumb.

Paul missed 14 games as a result of the thumb injury.
