LOS ANGELES — Steve Kerr is back on the bench as coach of the Golden State Warriors. He will coach his first game of the season tonight against Indiana, after missing the first 43 contests dealing with complications from offseason back surgery.
Kerr’s return means two things in Spurs World: First, barring something unforeseen, Kerr will coach in Monday’s much anticipated showdown between the NBA’s two best teams in Oakland.
And two, it vastly increases the likelihood Gregg Popovich and his staff will coach the Western Conference All-Star squad next month in Toronto.
Under NBA rules, the same coach cannot lead an All-Star team two seasons in a row.
