Kawhi Leonard, who sustained a sprained left ankle Tuesday, will play in Game 1 of the Spurs’ Western Conference Finals series against the Golden State Warriors in Oakland on Sunday.
Leonard, who sustained the injury in the third quarter of Game 5 against the Rockets, was sidelined late in the fourth quarter and in overtime in the Spurs’ 110-107 win Tuesday. He then missed the Spurs’ 114-75 win over Houston in Game 6 on Thursday.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said Leonard “absolutely” fully participated in Saturday’s practice in San Antonio.
As for how he plans to strategize against Golden State’s offense, which includes Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson, Popovich said his plan is pretty simple.
