Gregg Popovich says his strategy against the Warriors is to pray

Gregg Popovich has led the Spurs to five NBA championships and an unprecedented 20 straight playoff appearances, so the veteran coach should know exactly how to game plan against the Golden State Warriors.

“Pray,” he said at Spurs’ practice Saturday.

The Warriors have one of the most vaunted starting lineups in NBA history, a four-headed monster of offensive weapons, quickness and defensive sharpness in Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green.

When the Spurs play Golden State in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Sunday, they will be without their starting point, Tony Parker, who is sidelined with a left quadriceps rupture.
