Ginobili surprises himself with Olympics decision

Manu Ginobili counts his three trips to the Olympic games with Argentina among the highlights of his basketball career. So why not go for a fourth?

A few months after turning 39 this July, Ginobili plans to join his fellow Argentines in Rio de Janeiro.

“The three Olympic experiences I had were unforgettable,” Ginobili said after Spurs shootaround this morning in San Antonio. “Since I am active and feeling good and enjoying the game, I thought it would be a great opportunity to do it again.”

By far the greatest basketball player in his country’s history, Ginoibli burst on the international scene in 2004, when he helped the upstart Argentines claim Olympic gold in Athens, defeating a Tim Duncan-led Team USA on the way.
