For Spurs, Game 5 is all about defense

SAN ANTONIO – The Spurs’ keys to victory for Game 5 on Tuesday night begin and end with an emphasis on defense.

In winning the first two games of the series by a combined 43 points, the Spurs limited Memphis to 82 points in each contest.

But the Grizzlies topped 105 points in winning Games 3 and 4.

“It starts with the defense tonight,” Spurs point guard Tony Parker said Tuesday morning after the team’s shootaround. “You can’t focus on the offense. We have to start this game with energy and great defense.”

Memphis point guard Mike Conley scored 35 points in leading the Grizzlies to a 110-108 overtime win in Game 4.
