WTEN | Saint Mary's Sweeps Gonzaga On Senior Day

MORAGA, Calif. — Looking to make a statement in its final home match of the season and make a push for the West Coast Conference Tournament, the Saint Mary’s women’s tennis team did just that Sunday, beating second-place Gonzaga 4-0 on the day lone senior Jamie Pawid played the final match of her career at the Tim Korth Tennis Complex.

The Gaels (8-10, 5-3 WCC) pulled into a tie for second place with the Bulldogs with the sweep victory. Gonzaga (15-4, 5-3 WCC) had won 14 of its previous 16 matches.

“We knew yesterday we had a disappointing performance, and we told the girls that if we lost today we probably lost our chance to go to the conference tournament,” said Saint Mary’s head coach Lisa Alipaz.
