WSOC | USF Capitalizes On Opportunities To Down Gaels

SAN FRANCISCO — The Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team traveled across the Bay for a Friday night showdown under the lights versus rival San Francisco, but it was the Dons who came away with a 2-0 West Coast Conference victory at Negoesco Field.

The Dons (5-8, 1-2 WCC) broke a scoreless tie in the 51st minute with a penalty kick goal. Amanda Whipple broke through the Gaels’ defense while receiving a long pass in the middle of the field. As she attacked the goal, she was taken down inside the box, earning her the PK opportunity, which she would convert for a 1-0 lead.
