SANTA CLARA, Calif. — An exciting last-second goal before halftime Sunday gave the Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team a 1-0 lead, but two unanswered second half goals allowed host Santa Clara to come from behind and win 2-1 in a West Coast Conference game at Bronco Stadium.
Jordyn Cunningham scored her second goal of the year with just one second left before the buzzer sounded for halftime, giving the Gaels (2-10-2, 0-3 WCC) a 1-0 lead. With the seconds ticking down, Cunningham took a pass from Sophie Santos and put it past SCU goalkeeper Melissa Lowder for the goal and the lead.
