SPOKANE, Wash. — Saint Mary's traveled to the Pacific Northwest to face one of the top teams in the conference on Saturday but came up short to Gonzaga in a close 1-0 loss.
Gonzaga (6-2, 4-1 WCC) scored the only goal of the match in the 61st minute on a penalty kick. After the Gaels were whistled for a foul along the end line, GU's Sofia Braun deposited her shot into the right side netting for the game-winner.
Saint Mary's (1-4-2, 1-3-1 WCC) took six shots in the match with four coming on net.
