SPOKANE, Wash. — Samantha Dion’s 76th minute header and a late push from the Gaels wasn’t enough Friday night as the Gonzaga Bulldogs (5-7-2, 1-4-0 WCC) defeated Saint Mary’s 2-1 at Luger Field.
It took all of nine minutes and change for Gonzaga to put a tally on the board as Taylor Kernion fired a shot past Gaels keeper Julia McDonald for an early 1-0 lead. It was Kernion’s second goal of the season for the Bulldogs.
The Gaels (2-12-2, 0-5-0 WCC) trailed by just one heading into halftime but 15 minutes into the second half, Gonzaga doubled their lead.
