SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team clinched the No. 2 seed in the West Coast Conference Tournament with a 78-70 victory at Santa Clara on Thursday night at the Leavey Center.
With the win, Saint Mary's improves to 22-6, 13-4 WCC, while Santa Clara drops to 21-7, 12-5 WCC.
SMC had four players in double-figures led by Lauren Nicholson with 19 points. Megan McKay added 18 points and five rebounds while Devyn Galland poured in 16 points. Sydney Raggio added 13 points and nine rebounds as the Gaels used balanced scoring to defeat the top defensive team in the WCC in terms of stealing the ball.
