BOSTON — The Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team took a little while to wake up Friday from what translated as an early start, but a big run to close the first half and better ball-handling in the second half gave the Gaels their first win of 2016-17 with a 77-53 non-conference victory over Northeastern at the Cabot Center.
A noon tipoff on the East Coast for the Gaels (1-2) meant 9 a.m. in the West. And a slow start saw SMC’s early-season turnover woes continue in the first 15 minutes of the game, as it gave up the ball 10 times.
