LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Saint Mary's volleyball team received the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 year, recognizing the Gaels for their outstanding achievement in the classroom.
The award, announced July 24, is the Gaels' fourth in the last five years. It is awarded to teams that display excellence in the classroom by maintaining a 3.30 Grade Point Average during the school year. Last season's 13-player roster posted a team cumulative GPA of 3.46.
“I am always so proud of our student-athletes and their commitment to excellence on the court and in the classroom,” said Saint Mary's head coach Rob Browning.
