MORAGA, Calif. — Saturday’s East Bay clash between the Saint Mary’s volleyball team and California was as close as it could be, with all sets decided by five points or less, but it was the Golden Bears who eeked out a 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 25-23) non-conference win at McKeon Pavilion.
The match featured 38 ties and 14 lead changes. Through the first three sets, the teams were only separated by more than three points on nine occasions. Both teams held leads in all four sets.
The box score was just as close with both teams recording near-identical numbers.
