SAN FRANCISCO — Anchored by numerous standout performances in the 10,000-meter run, the Saint Mary’s track and field team had itself an outstanding day at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival at Cox Stadium.
Gabe Arias led the Saint Mary’s men with a big victory in heat two. Arias finished in 30 minutes, 17.19 seconds, to win his section by nearly 11 seconds. Josh Spooner (7th, 30:38.41) and Edward Chance (8th, 30:39.32) also finished in the top-10 to give Saint Mary’s three underclassmen under the 31-minute mark in the race.
“Our 10k crew ran really well today,” said Saint Mary’s head coach Marty Kinsey.
