MORAGA, Calif. – The Saint Mary’s softball team got strong pitching all-around as the Gaels swept Iona in a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon at Cottrell Field.
With the wins, the Gaels improve to 13-17-1 overall and will enter the two week break with a 9-3-1 record over their last 13 games.
The Gaels defeated the Iona Gaels 3-2 in game one and 1-0 in game two.
In the first game, Saint Mary’s took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, executing a double-steal as Andrea Hazel stole second and Monika Reichhardt raced home. Iona had two solo home runs in the game but it was SMC scoring the final run in the sixth.
