SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Saint Mary’s softball team opened West Coast Conference play with a doubleheader sweep at San Diego on Saturday afternoon on the Torero campus.
Katie Moss (10-8) earned victories in both games as SMC won game one 4-1 and game two 4-0.
The Gaels claimed the WCC opener by getting on base early and often as SMC defeated USD 4-1. Moss earned the complete game win, allowing three hits, one run, no earned runs, no walks and five strikeouts.
Andrea Hazel went 3-for-4 with a key insurance run RBI. Hailey Sparacino had a two-out two RBI single in the first and the Gaels never looked back.
