SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Saint Mary’s softball team answered every San Diego rally on Sunday afternoon to earn a 3-2 victory and a West Coast Conference opening weekend sweep.
In just the third year of WCC softball, the Gaels earned their second-ever road conference sweep. The sweep also leaves the Gaels in first-place with a 3-0 conference mark in the 15-game conference schedule.
Katie Moss earned the win (11-8), going 5.1 innings allowing one run. Lujane Mussadi earned the save going the final 1.2 innings, allowing one run. Hailey Sparacino delivered the big hit in the sixth with two outs, driving in a pair, while Giana Bilotta had a key pinch-hit RBI single for SMC’s third run.
