MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary’s late rally scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh but the Gaels couldn’t walk-off against the Wildcats as Northwestern (11-14) took Tuesday’s contest, 6-4.
With runners on the corners, the Gaels (11-17) struck first in the bottom of the first off an Abbey Mariani sacrifice-fly to left field. Northwestern would claim the momentum in the top of the third frame, scoring four runs. The Gaels would commit an in-field error to spark the offensive burst in the frame.
Saint Mary’s defense struggled to make plays as the team committed four errors during the game.
