SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Saint Mary’s softball team wrapped up the 2016 season with a 2-0 victory over Santa Clara on Saturday afternoon on the Bronco campus. The win gives the Gaels another 20-win season as SMC beat its bay area rival.
Following a first game 1-0 loss, Monika Reichhardt played a key role throwing a runner out at the plate to keep the game scoreless, then hitting a two-out two-RBI single to give SMC the lead in the fifth.
Katie Moss earned the victory to improve to 12-13 on the year. She went the complete game allowing five hits, no runs, two walks and striking out five.
