LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Saint Mary’s softball team opened play in the UNLV Classic going up against No. 7 Oregon on Friday night. The Gaels battled and got the potential tying runs on base in the fifth inning, before the Ducks pulled away in the final inning.
Lujane Mussadi pitched well limiting the Ducks to just a pair of hits in the first three innings. After Oregon took a 3-0 lead through two frames, the Gaels broke through in the fourth inning.
After an infield hit by Andrea Hazel, Erica Musgrave blasted a two-run home run to pull SMC within 3-2 in the fourth.
