SB | Gaels Edged By Stanford At Nike Tournament

STANFORD, Calif. – The Saint Mary’s softball team gave Stanford all it could handle but the Gaels came up short in a 6-3 loss at the Nike Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Smith Family Field.

Saint Mary’s spotted Stanford three runs in the first inning but battled all game. In the second inning, the Gaels got a key two-out two-RBI single by Hailey Sparacino to pull within 3-2.

In the fourth inning, Andrea Hazel had one of her four hits on the day, resulting in an RBI and pulling SMC within 4-3.

After Stanford added a pair in the fourth, SMC would put bring the potential tying runs to the plate in each of the sixth and seventh innings, but the Cardinal held off the charge and got out of the jams to escape with the win.
