HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Saint Mary’s softball team got a strong pitching performance by Katie Moss but one mistake proved to be the difference in the season opener at Hawaii.

Moss took a perfect game into the fifth inning, only to see a solo home run be the difference.

In the SMC sixth, Dylan Linton reached with one out after being hit by a pitch. Linton would steal second base with two outs, but the Gaels could not get the potential tying run in. On the play, Monika Reichhardt singled but Linton was thrown out at the plate attempting to score on the infield hit.
