MORAGA, Calif. — In the first of three games against San Diego (17-16, 3-1 WCC) this weekend, the Gaels were shutout by the Torero’s Megan Sabbatini in a 4-0 loss.
Saint Mary’s (15-22, 1-3 WCC) recorded just four hits in the defeat with three hits coming from the Gaels’ one through four hitters. Sabbatini struck out six Gaels and walked only one as she went the distance for her eighth win of the season.
The Gaels had their best scoring opportunity in the fourth inning when two singles and a walk loaded the bases for Eryn McCoy, but Sabbatini induced an infield popout to neutralize the threat.
