Saint Mary's coach Randy Bennett is WCC Coach of Year

Randy Bennett, who directed Saint Mary's College to a West Coast Conference co-championship, was named WCC Coach of the Year on Tuesday by a vote of the league's coaches.

Guards Emmett Naar and Joe Rahon of Saint Mary's, Jared Brownridge of Santa Clara and Devin Watson of USF were chosen to the 10-member all-WCC first team.Rahon, a junior transfer from Boston College, was tabbed as the WCC Newcomer of the Year. BYU guard Kyle Collinsworth, who set an NCAA career record with 11 triple-doubles, was voted Player of the Year.Bennett earned his third Coach of the Year award after leading a Gaels' squad that was picked to finish fourth in the league in a vote of the coaches before the season.
