Saint Mary's baseball season ended Saturday at the NCAA regionals when Navy scored three runs in the 13th inning to eliminate the Gaels with an 8-5 victory in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Gaels (33-25) tied it at 5-5 in the eighth. Their best chance to win the game came in the bottom of the 12th, when Brett Rasso singled and stole second base. But Rasso was left stranded, and Navy took advantage.Saint Mary's and Navy (43-15-1) combined to strand 28 runners after collecting 25 total hits and 17 walks. There were three lead changes in the game, with runs scored in seven of the first eight innings.
